The town hall is located in the centre of Lucerne's old town, directly on the River Reuss. It is part of the city's property portfolio and was built between 1602 and 1606 in the Italian Renaissance style. The town hall is a federally listed building. The neighbouring Am Rhyn houses - built in the 17th century - are also among the most important town houses in Lucerne and are listed buildings. Individual rooms can be rented for various events, subject to the conditions of use. Most of the houses are wheelchair accessible
