The Biohof is a green oasis in the centre of Lucerne and can be reached within a 15-20 minute walk or 10 minutes by bus from Lucerne railway station. The hayloft can be set up and organised according to various wishes and is suitable for up to 100 people. The Ofenstübli is suitable for small groups of up to 8 people, where meetings or smaller conferences can be held.
Sustainability is a top priority at the Kulturhof and is practised on a daily basis in all areas. What we serve comes from our own production or from neighbouring organic farms in the region and is 100% organic.
Sustainable commitment
Since its establishment in 2013, the non-profit Musegg Cultural and Living Space Foundation has been committed to promoting a general understanding of cultural and ecological values among the public. It runs the last small-scale farm in the centre of the city of Lucerne. It has favoured organic farming from the outset, runs a farm pub and farm shop, provides event rooms, runs educational programmes and workshops focusing on sustainable development for children, young people and companies, produces its own electricity and invites young and old to follow its example and rethink their own actions, find new solutions and shape a sustainable future together.
Use cycle: The farm shop, the farm pub and the animals are part of a utilisation cycle. Example: Fewer carrots were needed in the kitchen than were ordered. The remaining carrots can be sold in the farm shop. If they are not bought there, they are further processed and preserved in the farm kitchen, e.g. canned. The preserved carrots are sold in the farm shop or used in the farm restaurant. If something cannot be sold, it is fed to the animals or ends up in the compost, which in turn is used to nourish the permaculture garden. The farm also works together with Too good to go.
The farm produces its own electricity. Only a very small amount has to be purchased at peak times. By converting the Schilter1500 into an electric vehicle, haymaking has also become more CO2 neutral.
The Kulturhof offers new services in the areas of ecology, society and business in order to support the sustainable development movement even more locally. In doing so, the Kulturhof refers to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN 2030 Agenda. These 17 sustainability goals cover all areas of life. It is not just about conserving resources, promoting biodiversity, protecting the soil and being CO2 neutral. Rather, the Kulturhof sees it as its duty to pass on these values and ideas. This is why education also plays a major role on the farm. There are various programmes, such as the experience days. On these days, school classes from Lucerne visit us on the farm. They learn what it means to live on a farm and how to interact with nature and the animals.
