Congress planning

The Lucerne Convention Bureau is the business arm of the Lucerne Tourist Board and has the following core tasks: consulting and selling of additional services for custormers (free of charge), buidling and maintaining the brand of the Premium Business Destination Lucerne - Lake Lucerne and coordination of the MICE-players in the destination.

We provide our detailed local knowledge and experience to support your event planning free of charge. As networkers for the specialist providers in the conference, meeting and congress trade in the Lucerne - Lake Lucerne Region, we are able to offer you valuable tips.

Are you planning a congress in Lucerne? We would be very pleased to welcome you to our city to support your event. The City of Lucerne, Lucerne Tourism, the Business Development and Lucerne Hotels offer various congress support.

  • Free bus travelcard for delegates staying at a hotel in Lucerne (Zone 10, 2nd class)

Minimum requirements for financial support

The allocation of subsidies will be regulated by a commission comprised of organisations which are financially involved. Applications for subsidies must be sent to the LCB.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the financial contributions will be increased and the minimum criteria will be adjusted. These temporary regulations apply to events that will take place until mid-2021. The minimum criteria are listed below.

Minimum requirements for congresses until mid-2021

  • The duration of the congress must be a minimum of 1.5 days and include an overnight stay in a hotel in the official program.
  • The minimum number of participants attending the congress is 50.
  • Events must primarily be carried out in a conference center, which is a member of the Lucerne Convention Bureau.
  • New or first-time congresses will be given priority for the granting of subsidies.

Subsidy amounts for congresses until mid-2021

The calculation of the subsidy amount is based on the number of overnight stays in hotels in Lucerne:

  • 50 - 150 overnight stays: CHF 2'000
  • 151 - 300 overnight stays: CHF 3'000
  • 301 - 400 overnight stays: CHF 4'000
  • 401 - 600 overnight stays: CHF 5'000
  • 601 - 1'000 overnight stays: CHF 6'500
  • 1'001 - 1'999 overnight stays: CHF 8'000
  • as of 2'000 overnight stays : CHF 12'000

The base amount can be incresed by 75 % when the congress is held between November 1st and April 30th.
Furthermore, the base amount will be increased by 50 % if the event takes place before 30 June 2021.

  • The minimum number of participants attending the congress is 100.
  • Events must primarily be carried out in a conference center, which is a member of the Lucerne Convention Bureau.
  • New or first-time congresses will be given priority for the granting of subsidies.

The calculation of the subsidy amount is based on the number of overnight stays in hotels in Lucerne:

  • 100 - 150 overnight stays: CHF 2'000
  • 151 - 300 overnight stays: CHF 3'000
  • 301 - 400 overnight stays: CHF 4'000
  • 401 - 600 overnight stays: CHF 5'000
  • 601 - 1'000 overnight stays: CHF 6'500
  • 1'001 - 1'999 overnight stays: CHF 8'000
  • as of 2'000 overnight stays : CHF 12'000

The base amount can be incresed by 75 % when the congress is held between November 1st and April 30th.
