Europe's oldest mountain railway has been carrying passengers up from Vitznau to Mt. Rigi since 1871. Some of the engines and carriages from those early years have been lovingly and expertly restored. Rigi Bahnen is now in possession of one of the world's largest fleets of vintage rolling stock. A steam engine and vintage carriages make the trip up to the "Queen of the Mountains" an exclusive, nostalgic adventure.
Passengers on the steam trains are held spellbound by the gleaming metal, the smell of the coal fire, the hiss of steam, the sparks flying and the smooth running of the powerful pistons. The steam train ride up Mt. Rigi goes perfectly with a boattrip on Lake Lucerne.
