The last water-powered sawmill in Switzerland is in the Obwalden municipality of Giswil. The Kleinteil water-powered sawmill and associated laundry and tool collection can be viewed during a tour.

The huge sawmill was built some 250 years ago and was in commercial operation until 1913. The water-powered saw now only sees use when visitors are present.

You can also view the unique Weingarten washboard press together with all kinds of laundry requisites from your grandmother's day, as well as the tool collection: cider-making and distilling equipment and tools from the past used, for instance, to carve shingles for house facades or hollow out logs to create water conduits.

Covered seating is available for aperitifs.
