Locomotives have been stomping and steaming, squeaking and smoking on the Brienzer Rothorn since 1892. Switzerland's only steam-driven cog railway was considered a pioneering – but also crazy – achievement when it entered operation. These days, the main challenge consists in getting the locomotives to climb the mountain at full steam on a daily basis.
