The Ital Reding Estate ranks amongst the most treasured groups of buildings in Canton Schwyz. Located within the boundary walls are the mansion itself, the Bethlehem house and the former farm building (now the Cantonal Library). The mansion was built by Ital Reding in 1609. In front of the building is a baroque garden, flanked by two shade-giving arcades. The ground floor contains the large garden room, below which is the vaulted cellar. The grand reception rooms with their rich panelled walls and ceilings are located on the first floor.
The Bethlehem house, built in 1287, bears unique witness to the earliest days of the Swiss Confederation. The walled base of the ground floor features a room furnished with murals in the 16th century.
